My first contact with this hotel was when I was asked to conduct a paranormal investigation with a local radio station for its program for Halloween.
We seek the lady in gray and the victim of a murder, perhaps the murderer was still too because there was something very pleasant downstairs. We found many more who have negotiated, so that during a glass moving experiment the glass almost flew of the table! With its maze of corridors and back stairways I decided a full investigation open to the public we have achieved in March 2006. We were not disappointed.
Hidden behind a Georgian facade, the Grand Hotel du Cheval Blanc is a timber framed inn that dates back almost 500 years to the 16th century. Today, the court of origin even though now absent.

From 1520 to today, the Duke of Norfolk, the Queen Elizabeth 1, King George II, King Louis XVIII of France and Lord Nelson (then High Steward of Ipswich) with Lady Hamilton. Charles Dickens was one of the celebrity guests at the hotel in the Pickwick Papers. In more recent times Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson (after the abdication) and many more names that you know your history.

On a more normal, the artist Jevan Watkins Jones was in residence at the Grand Hotel du Cheval Blanc from September to December 2001. Meanwhile, recorded and reflected upon Buzz and boredom of a hotel encounter in their daily lives. His works, the housekeeper, the chef, the night watchman, and the A Life in the Great White Horse Hotel, were displayed at the gallery in the upstairs room at Christchurch Mansion, Ipswich: December 8, 2001, one in 27 January 2002.
