"The strength of the Dark", the second in a continuing series of two hundred and fifty years after "The search for the source of darkness." No having read the first book, I found "The strength of the Dark" to be very lonely. However, I loved this book and reread the first author.
"In the fortress of the Dark", a group of mortals, including elves, dwarves, and a demon after each of their own missions. The fate assembled in a single mission. This fight against Emhalla. Emhalla is a demon is on a mission to collect all the magic in the high country that can govern. He wants to rid the underworld of the land and destroy all living creatures.
When mortals are meeting to try to destroy Emhalla, each have to overcome their personal limitations to overcome. Besides confronting their weaknesses, but also must learn to trust each other. It is not easy, especially for the two dwarfs, since they must work with Rock to a Lord who has kept themselves and their people to slavery. Although each person learns to overcome his fears and hatreds they have in themselves, also learn an incredible amount of inner strength. One of the elves of the mission to discover what his true legacy.
I really enjoyed reading "The Fortress of Darkness." I was disappointed it had to end. I loved the elements used in magic history. Moreover of devils, elves and dwarves, there was also a mighty dragon, a spider Magic and other magical creatures. Perry gives each character in depth. I never thought I'd like a demon, but he managed to convince me that all demons are bad. At least there is one trying to be good. Loved up in May, a huge spider in the story. Until May, Perry has also managed to convince me that a spider can be cute and endearing. I found that Perry was able to change my perceptions preconceptions about the other creatures. This qualitatively new dimension to the story. During playback this book, I was in their world, not mine. Me like because it makes the true story of escape from the mundane.
I highly recommend "The Fortress of Darkness" for lovers of fantasy. I can not wait to read the previous books and to come in this series.
